This yin yoga set will still include a fair share of restorative postures to support our nervous system, along with poses that provide a gentle awakening of our energetic body as we move into the summer months.
Our theme will center on helping to create a balance within our body-mind as we move from high spring into the most expansive time of the year, summer. In Five Element theory and Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is the most yang time of the year, and is connected with the element of fire and with the heart as well as its supporting meridians - the pericardium, small intestine and triple warmer. While the heart meridian offers much healing, connection and joy, when out of balance symptoms of confusion, anxiety, restlessness and insomnia can manifest. June's yin yoga set will help to nourish and balance your body, mind and energetic system as we transition from the movement and growth of spring into the friendliness and warmth of summer.
This series is soulful and beginner-friendly, while also offering depth for long-time practitioners.
A reminder that yin yoga is a style that emphasizes long-held, passive stretches designed to create balance within the body, mind, and energy field. This mindful practice releases tension and stagnation in the body, nourishes our energy system, and helps to regulate the nervous system.
Please bring a yoga mat, a towel or blanket to use as a prop and for covering during savasana (final resting pose), and any bolsters or blocks you’d like for additional support during practice.
To Register:
Fee for the 4 class/75 minute series is $80
To pay with e-transfer, [email protected] (please include your name in the note section)
Or sign up on line here: soulcraeft-Booking.as.me/yogawithirene
(Please note that once the series has begun no refunds, credits or substitutions are available.)
Please bring your own:
Yin Yoga is a practice that emphasizes long-held passive stretches that target the deeper connective tissue including fascia and ligaments. By emphasizing long held passive stretches, yin yoga will help to stretch and lengthen these tissues while having a meditative quality and a gentle somatic release. Yin yoga is based on Taoist understanding of Qi (or energy) and through these poses we are opening up blockages and releasing energy to flow freely. All poses are done in positions on the floor, and blocks and bolsters are liberally used and encouraged.

Please bring your own:
- yoga mat
- a light to medium blanket or towel or two to use as an easy prop, for padding, and/or for cover during savasana (final resting pose),
- and any other props or bolsters you desire for extra supports (see below)
- Because I’m not a yoga studio, I don’t own extra blocks or bolsters, so in encourage you to have your own so that you can use for both in class, and for your own home practice and comfort. Please note, it’s not necessary to bring bolsters and blocks, so don’t worry if you can’t or just choose not to - a mat and blanket is recommended however.
- Please leave shoes outside of yoga studio door
- Any extra articles such as jackets, bags etc, can be left inside and in the back room of the studio so as not to overly clutter the yoga space. (Clear room, clear mind :) )
- Reminder to silence phones during class

I believe that our body archives all experiences that we weren’t able to safely process at the time, and yoga is a beautiful and practical way to help release that held tension, stress and congested energy. Yoga opens us up to our natural health, vitality and joy - strengthening and awakening our body, mind and spirit.
About my yoga background:
Yoga has weaved its way in and out of my life since my early teens. After a back injury in my 30's I turned to yoga to help heal my body and in doing so I found that it also deeply nourished my mind and spirit. Finally, in 2011 I followed my long held dream and embarked on my training to become certified as a Yoga Teacher through Kavita Maharaj at Red Door Yoga.
Drawing from a training in classical Hatha, I integrate various styles of yoga with my main passion being informed by Insight Yin Yoga, learning much from Carly Forest.
My years of work as a Jin Shin Do® Acupressurist and Reiki Master also influence my understanding of the body, it’s energy systems, and how to work somatically with the bodymind. My teachings are trauma informed and respect the body/mind that you inhabit each time that you enter the class environment.
Yin Yoga is a superb practice to support healing and awakening for the body, mind and emotions.
